Upcoming Hollywood blockbuster movie releases surprise cryptocurrency tease
The new Robin Hood film, arriving in cinemas in November, releases a puzzling tease about “bringing crypto-power to the people”….
This coming week, film, TV and comic book fans are converging on San Diego for the annual San Diego Comic-Con, a massive geek event where major productions are regularly showcased and announced.
One movie that’s teased an unusual announcement, as part of its own Comic-Con work, is the brand new take on Robin Hood, that arrives in cinemas later this year.
The film stars Taron Egerton, Jamie Foxx, Ben Mendelsohn, Tim Minchin and Jamie Dornan, and it tells the story of the origins of the Robin Hood character. Sequels are planned if this one goes well.
Given that the film is set in the past, you wouldn’t, though, necessarily see it as much of an ambassador for cryptocurrencies and blockchain. And yet an intriguing post has appeared on the Twitter feed of the company behind the movie, Lionsgate. It’s trailed a cryptocurrency-related announcement that it’ll be making at the upcoming convention…

It should be noted that the film is entirely separate from the Robinhood brokerage, that has been earning headlines of late for free stock trading.
All should be revealed later this week. The chances, though, of Robin Hood stealing the Sheriff Of Nottingham’s Bitcoins we’d suggest are on the slim side…
